I enjoy observing and documenting signs, but every once in a while I fall in love with one. It's happened again. This sign, located on Memorial Drive, Cambridge, was rebuilt recently, and it's spectacular. Purists may dismiss it: LEDs were not part of the original, but I would argue are part of the contemporary reality surrounding lighting, energy costs, and maintenance. Get over there and enjoy it!

I shot this near Brick Lane during the flea market. It brings together the mix of people who live in the city with the growth spurt happening in anticipation of next year's Olympics. The city is so congested already, I have no idea how they will manage the onslaught next summer.

I just sent off four signs to Samuel Owen Gallery for the upcoming "On Every Street," which opens Thursday, October 6. Curated by Michael De Feo, it will feature work by a number of notables, including Faile, Swoon, Aiko, Shepard Fairey, Gaia, Ellis G., Blek le rat, Ron English, and... Keith Haring. It promises to be excellent, but I accepted mainly because Greenwich has more Warhols per capita than any city in the world. Stop by and see us on the 6th!

I recently had the pleasure of documenting Swoon's installation at the ICA Boston. I'm still going through the photos, and I'll post a set on this site. In the meantime, here is a street installation she did in Somerville. It's one of my favorite pieces in a while.

We spent a lot of time at The Windsor Fair again this year. I'm poring over the photographs and will have some posted here soon.

The ICA is turning 75 this year, and asked for images that capture the spirit of the museum. So I dug this one up from 2010 - it's a Jenny Holzer projection - and sent it in. I'm told by a reliable source that Holzer liked the series I did also, and asked for the images. Alas, the trade that was implied never materialized. :(

A friend invited me last night to see the Sox-Yankees game at Fenway, so I took my camera just in case. I spent the last couple of innings roaming around the underbelly of the baseball park, and found a few images worth keeping.

We spent the weekend visiting with PLV's family, and gave me a chance to roam around town and catch up with the landscape. More photos here.
